Who We Are
ABOUT INTERFAITH COMMUNITY HOUSING OF DELAWARE, INC.
Interfaith Community Housing of Delaware, Inc. (ICHDE) is a non-profit organization that has quietly served the low – to moderate–income populations of Delaware since 1968. ICHDE is an agency with the consistent, sustainable, and meaningful successes and outcomes of similar agencies which are larger in both budget and staff.
Historically, the work accomplished at ICHDE has unceasingly been focused on low-income families and their housing, and on a larger scale, the neighborhoods and communities in which they reside. ICHDE is a 501 (c)(3) charitable Delaware nonprofit and a certified Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO). In November 2006, Interfaith Housing, Inc. and Community Housing, Inc. merged and created what is now known as Interfaith Community Housing of Delaware, Inc. ICHDE is an agency with a history of “first”, particularly in the affordable housing development, financial literacy and housing counseling arenas. In 1999 ICHDE became the first chartered NeighborWorks ® America organization and implemented the first certified NeighborWorks Homeownership Center in 2005. ICHDE developed its first housing projects in Wilmington and New Castle County; and expanded to Kent and Sussex in 1995. ICHDE has now built, rehabilitated, sold, owned, or managed a total of 1,600 housing units. ICHDE is the largest state-wide nonprofit community housing organization in Delaware.
