Updated: Oct 6, 2023

Congratulations to our own Caren Turner for being one of the Green Building United 2023 Groundbreaking Award Nominees! Ms. Caren's roots are here in the West Center City Community, where she has resided for over six decades. She has been a dedicated employee for Interfaith Community Housing of Delaware for thirty-five years.

Ms. Caren is responsible for many groundbreaking projects and programs established within the West Center City Community and surrounding neighborhoods. She has worked tirelessly with other community partners to advocate, provide resources, and address the needs of the community holistically.

Ms. Caren has been a strong advocate for sustainability and has been leading initiatives focusing on climate conversations, faith-based efficiency programs, and renewable energy in the community. Most recently, she collaborated closely with the National Wildlife Federation’s Sacred Grounds Initiative with several non-profits to create pollinator gardens in West Center City. Her goal is to foster more dialogue on climate stewardship, solar energy, solar energy panels, community solar energy rebates and climate.
