Ms. Caren Turner

On behalf of the entire Interfaith Community Housing of Delaware, Inc. family, it is with a heavy heart that we reflect on the incredible life and legacy of Ms. Caren Turner. Ms. Caren was a lifelong resident of West Center City in Wilmington, who dedicated over six decades to advocating for justice, equity, and community empowerment. Her unwavering commitment as our Community Building and Organizing Coordinator for 35 years transformed countless lives, creating spaces of safety, dignity, and opportunity for seniors, youth, and families alike. Her passion for equity was unstoppable and left lasting meaningful impacts on all the lives she touched.

Ms. Caren’s work was deeply rooted in compassion and resilience. She was a voice for the underserved and an advocate who fearlessly spoke truth to power. From organizing resource giveaways to empowering community leaders, she exemplified the spirit of service that defines our mission. Her passion for inclusion, her might in addressing social justice, and her leadership in building genuine engagement leave an indelible mark on our organization and the community she so deeply loved.

We mourn the loss of an extraordinary woman and celebrate the light she brought to our organization and countless others. Ms. Caren’s legacy will continue to inspire us to carry forward her vision of an empowered, equitable community.

Rest in peace, Caren. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
